Victory Records was releasing a Best Of compilation for Between The Buried &amp; Me's discography. The challenge was to find a way to encapsulate all of their albums into one cohesive package. My original concept was to use a diecut o-card that looked like a boxy 4:3 televsion. The accompanying inner digipak would look like television static, and we would bury imagery, lyrics, and icongraphy from each album into the static. Jason suggested that we use a spectral decoder to visually emulate the static and conceal all of the imagery. The accompanying booklet and packaging shows the gradual degradation of the rose, but also the sequential disappearance of nails until only the beaten rose is left on the final page of the booklet, symbolizing it’s victory against the outnumbering nails. A red and white motif was used throughout as a homeage to Coldrain’s home country of Japan.
